The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are among the most popular varietals in the world. In fact, even if you don’t drink wine, you’ve probably heard of Cabernet Sauvignon! One of the most widely planted grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in the warm, dry climate of Sicily’s lower lying areas.

While the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are among the most popular in the world, Grenache grapes are less known. Yet surprisingly, Grenache grapes are responsible for producing some of the world’s most exquisite wines. Grown at the higher altitudes of Sicily’s active volcano, Mt. Etna, Grenache grapes are equally as important to the wine world as their more popular counterpart. These grapes possess the unmistakable flavor of candied fruit infused with cinnamon undertones. No wonder they are used to produce amazing wines!

Together, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (<90%) and the Grenache grapes (>10%) create the perfect marriage of spicy black currant and sweet matured fruits.

 

Alicant - Short for 'Alicante,' Alicant is Italian for the Grenache grapes that produce Gambino’s extraordinary red wine. Grenache is the Spanish name for Cannonau grapes. The Cannonau grapes are native to the island of Sardinia, north of Sicily.

  • Refined in an oak container for 12 months, this wine is best served between 64F-68F.
